The greatest Denethor I've ever seen! He's really good!
I love the details of the face, the slight tension at the neck and the expression, the way he's raising his eyebrows and holding his mouth. I even more like how you did his hands (they look real!), and how he's holding the stick. The stick itself is pretty, better than how I imagined it, so I'm glad to see your interpretation ^^ I fact I like all of the details of the texture of column, the design of the chair and the stairs in the background (with the symbols). And the game of light is very well done. Actually the only thing I would change would be his robe, I'd see it rather richer
Thank you for sharing (and sorry for any mistake, I'm not English)
Thank you so much! Working on Lord of the Rings art is a privilege, and being assigned Denethor had me quite nervous, he is a very complex character, and I tried to portray some of his facets the best I could.
Given how, in my opinion, Denethor has turned pride disguised as humility into an art form I opted for a relatively simple outfit, playing with the black and silver that are the colors of Gondor (keeping in mind, though that in the old times 'true' black was a rare and expensive color, since it was very difficult to obtain).
Of course I don't expect everyone to agree with my choice, how we imagine a character is highly personal.
...And don't worry about your English, it's very good (and I'm not a native speaker either)
Denethor is my second favorite character forever, and I think you managed to portray him very well!
I actually think what you say about Denethor and his pride disguised as humility very interesting. I agree with you in a way. Do you remember the scene when we meet him for the first time? The way Tolkien describe it, it's the lack of ornamentations (his 'humility') in this Great hall of Kings that makes Denethor very impressive. Him sitting in that low plain chair behind the magnificent high throne, and still managing to look kingly and grand. He really is fascinating, I love that!
So it's alright I can understand your opinion and I think it quite likely ^^
Can I ask you what is the 'Lord of the Rings art'? I don't think I ever heard of it.
